This policy sets out what Water Damage New York collects through waterdamagenewyork.org and by phone, what it is used for, who receives it, and the choices you have.
What We Collect
When you send a request through a form on the Website we receive what you type: your name, phone number, email address if you give one, the service you chose, and your description of what has happened and where. The form also records the page it was sent from and the network address it came from, which is used to limit automated submissions.
When you call, we receive what you tell us on the call, usually the borough and cross streets, what the water came from, and a number to reach you on. Calls to the number on the Website may be recorded and transcribed so that the details can be passed on accurately.
Separately, standard analytics through Google Analytics 4 record pages viewed, time on page, approximate location from your network address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. That data is not tied to your name.
What It Is Used For
The details you give us are used to respond to you and to connect you with a restoration contractor covering your borough that handles that kind of work. Analytics data is used in aggregate to see which pages are useful and to improve the site.
Who Receives It
Sharing your details is how the service works. To act on a request we pass your contact details and your description of the property and the problem to one or more independent water damage restoration contractors in our network. Those contractors may then contact you by phone, text message or email about your request, and we may be paid a referral fee by the contractor.
Once a contractor holds your details, that contractor’s own privacy practices apply. We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anyone beyond what is needed to respond to your request and to run the Website. Form submissions are delivered to us through Cloudflare, which processes them on our behalf.
Cookies and Analytics
The Website uses Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies to measure use. You can block or delete cookies in your browser and the site will still work. No advertising cookies or other third-party trackers are used.
How Long It Is Kept
Requests are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for ordinary business records. Analytics data is kept according to the retention setting on the Google Analytics property.
Your Rights and Choices
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Requests can be made by phone on (929) 477-6429 or through the contact form, and we may need to confirm your identity before acting.
New York residents have rights under state and city consumer protection and privacy law, and residents of other states may have rights under their own state law, including the right to know what personal information is collected and shared, the right to request deletion and correction, and the right not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
If you no longer want to hear from a contractor who contacted you, tell that contractor directly and tell us, and the contact will stop.
Do Not Track
There is no agreed standard for responding to Do Not Track signals, so the Website does not respond to them. Cookies can be controlled in your browser, and Google offers its own analytics opt-out.
Children
The Website is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we hold information about a child, contact us and it will be removed.
Security
The Website is served over an encrypted connection and form submissions travel the same way. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be promised. We never ask for payment details, and no form on the Website accepts them.

This policy may be updated. The current version is always the one on this page, with its date at the top.
